To help understand, and therefore appreciate, the full range of styles expressed by the terroirs, Blason de Bourgogne has organised its wines into 4 categories :
The Classics : produced throughout most of the region, these are the entry point to the greater Burgundies. Easy to approach thanks to their varietal and/or geographical identification, this category comprises 10 wines : Aligoté, Chardonnay, Chardonnay Côte Chalonnaise, Pinot Noir, Pinot Noir Côte Chalonnaise, Mâcon Rouge, Mâcon Rosé, Mâcon Villages, Sauvignon Blanc Saint Bris and Petit Chablis.
The Ambassadors : produced from a more limited territory, they represent the typical style of their terroirs. Some are household names while others await discovery. Within this category we find 7 wines : Chablis, Hautes-Côtes de Nuits, Hautes-Côtes de Beaune, Mercurey, Montagny, Saint Véran and Rully.
The Great Wines: these are the icons of Burgundy. Whether Premier Cru or produced from very strict selection, they have given the region its reputation. This category comprises 4 wines : Chablis 1er Cru, Beaune, Montagny Vieilles Vignes and Pouilly Fuissé.
The Sparkling Wines: these Crémants de Bourgogne are enjoying rising success due to their excellent value-for-money and to their noble origins. In this category we find 4 wines : Réserve, Blanc de noirs, Rosé and Extra-Brut.
